A Mother’s Story

Lena, a patient in our El Paso fertility clinic, shared her story with us recently. After the birth of a son in 2012, she experienced “unexplained infertility” also known as secondary infertility, in trying to conceive another child. At 36, she was referred to an El Paso fertility doctor and spent more than two years in unsuccessful fertility treatments. She then began treatment in her home state of New York, only to have that IVF procedure not be successful either.
Returning to her home in El Paso, Lena recalls hearing a radio commercial for Caperton Fertility Institute. “They were just opening the El Paso fertility clinic, in fact, I think I was their first patient,” she said. “By that time, I was 38. I’d been treated by two specialists who hadn’t been able to tell me what was wrong; I’d gotten pregnant on my own twice and had two miscarriages.”
“Dr. C diagnosed my problem in October 2017, and within a few months, I was pregnant,” she said. “There were a lot of scary moments. I’d call Dr. C and he’d say, ‘Be here in 20 minutes.’ And he’d reassure me that there was a heartbeat and the pregnancy was safe.”
“He was so calm, everyone in the office was so reassuring,” said Lena. “He would tell me, ‘There WILL be a baby’ and he was right! It was such a different experience at Caperton Fertility. The first doctor I saw, I’d often sit in the waiting room for three hours. With Dr. C, I never waited more than 20 minutes, and even then, he’d apologize, saying there’d been an emergency. I understand that—I’ve BEEN an emergency too!”
Lena says the experience couldn’t have been better at Caperton Fertility. “We didn’t get empty promises. They were upfront on costs and processes. I’m so glad we found them!”
Lena delivered a healthy 7 pound, 14 ounce baby boy in November 2018, just over a year after beginning treatment. His name? Esai, meaning “God’s gift”.
