IVF Success Rates Are Celebrated, But The Story That Leads To Them Makes It All Worthwhile

The true measure of how we are doing comes from the families we have helped over the years. Here are some of their stories...

"We walked into CFI not knowing what to expect. We had been trying to have a baby for over six years and did not have any success. We knew that something must be wrong. From the moment we started seeing Dr. Caperton, he immediately started working on identifying the barriers to conceiving a child. Dr. Caperton was quickly able to diagnose our conditions and we were able to collectively develop a treatment plan.

My husband and I did not make the process of conceiving a child easy for CFI. I was challenged with Low Ovarian Reserve and my husband had Chromosome Y Infertility. One of these conditions was challenging, but pairing the two conditions together made things quite difficult.

Regardless of our conditions, the CFI team did not give up on us. We started IVF knowing that it was going to be a long and hard process, but we knew we had the support of the entire CFI team. Due to my Low Ovarian Reserve, we went through five egg retrieval cycles. We had three successful cycles and two that failed. I recall being emotionally crushed when our first cycle failed, but the entire team was there supporting and helping me through the hard times.

In August of this year, we attempted our first frozen embryo transfer (FET). During our first visit to do blood work after the transfer, I remember the excitement from the entire office waiting to hear the verdict of whether the transfer worked or not. I left the office and anxiously waited to get the phone call with the results. Later that afternoon, I got the call and we heard the news that we have been wanting to hear for over six years. We were told that we were having a baby!

I would like to thank the entire CFI team for everything you did for us to help our dreams come true. Your team did not only provide medical treatment, but you also provided encouragement and support as we went through the various stages of treatment. I really felt like part of the CFI family. We had moments where there were tears of sorrow, but I will never forget the moments we had where there were tears of joy.

On October 11th, I graduated from CFI. It was truly a bittersweet day for me. I knew I was moving on because we had reached our goal, but it was very hard leaving such a wonderful group of people. Each person at the CFI team, from the front desk to the laboratory, worked to make my visit the best it could be. I cannot begin to describe how much that meant to me. I do have to say that I got a little spoiled while I was there. My other doctor visits are just not the same!

""Entramos al CFI sin saber qué esperar. Estuvimos tratando de tener un bebé por más de seis años y no lo lográbamos. Sabíamos que algo estaba mal. Los padecimientos que teníamos mi esposo y yo no facilitaban el proceso de concebir un hijo en la clínica. Padecía de reserva ovárica baja y mi esposo tenía infertilidad por anomalías del cromosoma Y. Una de estas afecciones era muy complicada, pero tener que atender ambos padecimientos dificultó mucho el proceso.

Independientemente de nuestras condiciones, el equipo de la clínica no se dio por vencido con nosotros. Comenzamos la fertilización in vitro sabiendo que iba a ser un proceso largo y difícil, pero también sabíamos que contábamos con el apoyo de todo el equipo de la clínica. Debido a mi reserva ovárica baja, pasamos por cinco ciclos de extracción de óvulos. Tuvimos tres ciclos exitosos y dos que fallaron. Recuerdo que me sentí devastada emocionalmente cuando el primer ciclo falló, pero todo el equipo estaba allí apoyándome y ayudándome en los momentos difíciles.

En agosto de este año, intentamos nuestra primera transferencia de embriones congelados (FET). Me gustaría agradecer a todo el equipo de la clínica por todo lo que hicieron por nosotros para ayudar a que nuestros sueños se hicieran realidad. El equipo no solo nos brindó tratamiento médico, sino que también nos ofreció aliento y apoyo a medida que atravesábamos las diversas etapas del tratamiento. Realmente me sentí parte de la familia de la clínica. Tuvimos momentos en los que hubo lágrimas de dolor, pero nunca olvidaré los momentos que tuvimos donde las lágrimas fueron de alegría.

El 11 de octubre, me “gradué” de la clínica. Fue realmente un día agridulce para mí. Sabía que esto era un avance porque habíamos alcanzado nuestro objetivo, pero fue muy difícil dejar a un grupo tan maravilloso de personas. Cada miembro del equipo de la clínica, desde el personal de la recepción hasta el del laboratorio, trabajó para hacer que mi estancia fuera la mejor posible. No puedo describir cuánto significó eso para mí. Debo decir que me consintieron mucho mientras estuve allí. Las consultas con otros doctores no han sido nada parecido.

Dr. Caperton and his staff truly are the best! My husband and I had been through a traumatic ectopic pregnancy in which I lost a fallopian tube leaving us not only devastated from the loss but also worried about what that meant for our fertility. For a couple years after that we had been getting the run around from numerous doctors and endured months of failed clomid and letrozole treatments. We were discouraged and fed up to say the least.

From our very first appointment with Dr. Caperton he made us feel like there was definitely hope for us despite me only having one fallopian tube and being diagnosed with PCOS! Our IVF process was surprisingly the easiest part of our journey to conceive! This is because Dr. Caperton and his nurses are there for you every step of the way, answer all of your questions, and genuinely want to do everything they can to help get you pregnant! They always get back to you promptly with answers to your questions, there were even a couple instances that Dr. Caperton called us himself to answer questions which we greatly appreciated!

We live 3 hours away so most of my lab work was done at my local hospital. His nurses always went above and beyond to make sure they got my results from the lab (sometimes it was a challenge) and always relayed info in a reasonable time frame! Our travel time to and from Dr. Caperton’s office was well worth it, we wouldn’t have had it any other way! We couldn’t have asked for a better doctor and feel blessed to have found Dr. Caperton! I was actually sad when it came time to transfer to a regular OB/GYN because they were so great to us!! We will forever be grateful to Dr. C and his staff for making our dreams of having a family come true! We look forward to working with him in the future when we are ready to expand our family!!
